The Middle Line Moves
"Resignation would prevent the person from dragging the whole Philippines down, and we feel it has reached that point," DLSU president Br. Armin Luistro FSC
Finally the middle line moves and two poles are now disrupted. People would say that the administration is the one at fault but lets look at the issue closer. When you look at the wiretapping tapes that were approved days ago we would see how opposition has no moral/ lawful claims as well since they also joined in this electoral cheating. It is known that Loren Legard and Jamby etc talked to Garcia just like our dear president. Perhaps they’ll be all saying, “We just protected our votes.” Yeah right. Filipinos are not fools.
Following the failed rally at Ayala, the academe, the middle class, the employees are now slowly waking. They are tired of being apathetic and once someone leads (bangwagon mentally, we need someone to go first before we do something) them to rise then it would happen, change. Finally.
It was the middle class, the bourgeois who put Gloria into power and now it would be the middle class that would put her out.
There are plenty reason why Gloria should resign. Aside from the fact she cheated the whole lot of us but due to this she would govern ineffectively. Why? Simply because she would now be prone to black mail and coercion by her colleagues in the congress and military men who have vested interests. Naturally if she refuses to help a congressman or a military man then it would mean that their support for her would dissapear. So what would she do? She would give in.
Remember the quote “Those who are in power are afraid to lose it” And Gloria is very afraid and she would do anything to maintain it.
I wonder if Gloria gets impeached… hmm.. I guess she’ll be having residence with Erap. (The ultimate dysfunctional roommates XD)
Anyways I do hope this fire started by Lasalle, Up Law and The Diokno Foundation continue to flare until it finally resolves all the crises we have and move on as a country.
"We would like to believe that she was sincere when she expressed her commitment to make a personal sacrifice for the nation's interest. We now pray for her to bring it to full fruition -- the supreme sacrifice of surrendering personal want, comfort and position. We pray for her to voluntarily relinquish power so that a constitutional process of succession may proceed," Academe of Lasalle

Politics
I’ve just had enough.
This will be my third string of Gloria related posts but at this time this is all that is in my head right now.(Well aside from my majors and statistics)
I’ve been watching this whole scenario unfold since its on-set. I’ve wasted most of my time watching the Congressional inquiry on the tape and it sickens me every time I watch them.
The endless squabbles, “the opposition this and the administration that”, our partisan system does not work. Unlike America where they actually have ideologies on the other hand our country does not. LAKAS, LABAN etc what are they actually fighting for? It’s just for two things, elite interest and their own political interest.
Perhaps Manhit is right, we do need electoral reform to truly change the face of our country. The main critic of most scholars on our country is that we have bad governance and the irony is it’s the only thing that doesn’t work. We have a good and literate work force, low labor and good environment; it’s the government that is mucking all things up.
And let’s talk about Gloria’s administration, the worse since.. ever. If you read papers on the reasons why we have this fiscal crisis (and consequently the dreaded but much needed E-Vat) its because of Gloria’s excessive borrowing, a gamble that didn’t pay of, it didn’t trigger economic growth and that is why we are in a rut right now.
I am not truly mad at Gloria is just that she must resign since she can’t govern effectively.
And she already made a managing blunder and perhaps someone would be more qualified than her. (Also given that half the nation don’t trust her anymore, 60% according to the recent polls)
But much of our country’s woes are sad to say owed to the economic and political elite. It’s not Gloria, Dobl, Garcilliano etc they are just indicators of the real problem. It’s systemic and imbedded in our political system that we need to truly pluck it off.
And it is connected to our flawed electoral system. Unlike the German or British election systems where the state controls the rule of the game, we on the other hand don’t have much control over elections.
One of the main flaws of our electoral system is the cost of entering into a campaign.
What this breeds are economic elites who will pay the political elites(in their campaign) for government appointments or alterations of policies according to their wims. The concept of utang na loob plays here and once an economic elite helps a political candidate, the candidate then will have loyalty to that person and in our society you must pay back that utang na loob.
What this makes is a government with only elite interest at hands in this makes our country poorer and poorer.. sigh.
If only the middle class moves (and we are slowly thinning out since the gap is slowly becoming wider.) The lower class don’t have power to wake up the elite but the middle class, the OFWS are one force is organize well can really change the status quo.
Anyways I still don’t agree with any revolution but mass action is ok since it’s the essence of democracy.
And I hope the congress really uses this inquiry in aid of legislation!. They should be talking about electoral reform; from the looks of it what they are doing is much like an impeachment trial. It’s weird that one congressman proposed that they shift to this idea but everyone else turned it downed, no on eve seconded it. * sigh
I just hope Sir Manhit’s bill on electoral reform be passed.. But Drilon and his cohorts turned it down for one reason or another.,
Movies
War of the Worlds is a recommended movie. It really does capture a different view on Alien invasion type of flicks, focusing more on the person(smaller picture limited to one family) aspect as opposed to movies like Independence Day which showcased the bigger picture.
And I am interested in that Pinoy Blonde movie. I saw the trailer earlier and I made me think twice about this movie.
Of Flying Cars and Dead Eagles
I saw a flying car and a dead eagle....
That's all there is to it. The first game of the season wasn't as I hoped it to be.
It started inconspicuous enough but all things came crashing down when my friend came.
“San ka?”
“Upper A na ako”
“Ha? Pano ako, sino kasama ko.”
*ngisig
“Si Alex?”
“Eh pano si *******?”
“Hayaan mo siya”
All I could say is “magaling”, napaka-napaka-napaka-“galing”. These are the times when you know if a friend is a true friend and right now I feel that he isn’t. At least a good friend of mine came as he promised, and even offered to join me in upper B.
What I find unacceptable was the fact that he not only promised to come with me but also another person, someone he claims to “love”. Yeah right, words are just words, actions define a man.
At least he could have given his ticket to her but NO, he gave it to someone who would buy it, talk about someone who loves money, and this just takes the cake.
Anyways I found a way to secure her a ticket but what I can’t accept was the fact that she didn’t even wait for her and he just came inside. Yeah, she told me before that day he was texting her that he and her would come in at the same time. But no, he didn’t even wait. Yeah he “loves” her, yeah right.
But being a good friend I let this off but once he does this again, there won’t be turning back.
The game itself was boring enough. When the game reached the third quarter I didn’t even bother to watch and wanted to just talk rather than watch that boring game.(At least I saw that fake car fly). But the game was fun because of good company, disregarding the fact that a friend betrayed us.
Well so much for that dead eagle and flying car.
Kaliwete
Tapos, and kulit sinasabi an kaliwete na rin ang La Salle? Eh pano magiging Kaliwete yan eh yan ang bastion of the elite, ang elite or forces of production an kinagagalitan ng mga Marxist.
Weird.
Kaliwete, Kaliwete, Kaliwete sayo ohhh
Wag kang magalala hindi ako …
