POLISCI-yang?
Posted by Revolving_Drum at 02:42 PM on June 1, 2005

The daunting task of a politician…

I wouldn’t be so tight lipped when I say that I have ambitions in Politics. As much as I condemn that practices of some politicians, I do acknowledge the fact that connections are important, especially here in the Philippines.

I have long been an idealist, but as I see the picture more and more visibly all I see is a road that could never be passed by a saint. It’s filled with thorns and snakes ready to take a bite of you or pinch you when you least expect it.

Long have I heard of “Jedi” or aspiring politicians who have held ideals that they learned from their “Masters” but soon as they enter that carnal pit of ravaging fools, they are sucked in to the dark side. Sad. A Tragedy. But what’s worst is that this story would be told time again as new batch of graduates enters the political and public scene.

POLSCI, all the time we study power and how it interacts with society. Who gets what? when? how? Its all too grand but then granduer hold lies that would lead us down to delusions...And soon most of us, I know would strive for power or atleast get to a proximity to it. We are studying something dangerous but then again vital... I realized now that POLISCI isn't POLISCI-yang since it studies one of the more important aspects of society, if not one of them then it is the most important of them all.

I wish not to be sucked by the system when the time comes but the more the future comes the more I see the inevitable. I just hope that my principles would be stronger than my temptations.

I do not want to be another Charles Foster Kane.

Buhay ORIENT

ORIENT1

Hay atleast back to the past tong subject na to.

Major Pain

My majors are a pain to the butt and that I say literary. Four hours for a subject is no joke and it’s really hard.

Three Times The Charm?
Posted by Revolving_Drum at 12:14 PM on June 11, 2005

Another allegation, another Clarrisa Ocampo, another trial, another downfall; It’s all too familiar as if we all travel back in time. But did we really travel back in time? Since Estrada’s fall, since EDSA two did we ever step forward for change or did we just remain in our world fooling ourselves in the changes we made.

But this brand of soap opera now is becoming tiring. Another EDSA? The sequel was bad enough how much more a part three. They say it’s three time the charm but not in our country. It’s bad enough that we’re the laughing stock of Asia but now were making fools of ourselves by thinking that another extra legal means of changing the leadership is the great remedy for all of our woes.

But then again the possibility of an EDSA 3 at this point of this drama is remote. There’s no civil society, no business communities that would put down the administration.

Admittedly the poor have no power and this can be seen at the supposed “EDSA 3” which showed how the poor can easily be extinguished.(which I don’t look at us being another EDSA) Perhaps this is why the two previous EDSAs didn’t really push us to the future we wished to have. I don’t want to antagonize the rich since I am also part of that world but in reality the rich do make matters worse for our country. Every since power changed from the Americans to the Filipinos it was a death sentence to us all. The power didn’t really go to the people; instead power was given to the few people who lorded over the lands.

I hope this ends through legal means. I hope another EDSA does not sprout. Tape or no tape right now another extra legal change of leadership will be bad for us.

You'll probably see these along SJ walk sometime next week. I just wish that I did them earlier.

Inspired by the current issue of our country, especially the legitimacy crisis that is going on. I do believe that Gloria is guilty and it is very obvious since before this "tape recording" there were already claims of fraud against Gloria. And the problem is that the public does not like her. I mean she has the lowest rating compared to the other presidents. For one thing she is lucky since the one who could contest his power is FPJ who died and Susan has no claims over any politiking.
But her luck is slowly running out, coinciding with her administration is the silent rise of China which is right now in need of oil, which in turn jacked the prices of petroleum all over the world.

The meaning of politics itself, power. But as the saying goes; "Absolute power corrupts absolutely" Which is true since people are prone to temptations and given the system which even encourages this lifestyle then we're in deep shit. So we need to find ways to change the system and ourselves.

Alot Of Things To Say, So Little Time

This whole Garci scandal is getting out of hand. Its a whole bevy of crises right in our midst, legitimacy, identity, penetration etc...

But all crises are mediums for reform and I think its high time we make a collective effort to press for electoral reforms.

As it stand, I never would believe that a EDSA seqeul is appropriate. I believe it wouldn't happen(50-50 chance) Since the middle class isn't really responding.

But damn, Gloria should fire her publicist. Its much better when she was silent, now she talked Susan is also doing her thing. (Which is very understandable since Gloria did cheat last elections and not only that she used most of the goverments fund.machine for her campaign.)

Ako yung mga iilang nilalang na gustong maradaman lahat ng bagay, in english, I want to take everythign that life has to offer.

Isa lang sa mga kakilala ko ay ganito at sayang wala na siya sa DLSU.
