First there was news of Korea's Nuclear arms, then there was the re-arming of the Japan military, and sometime in March China is going to enact a law proclaiming that seccecionist will be dealt with.
With all these suspicious activity in our part of the world. It wouldn't be too imaginative of me to say that two dragons are about to battle head on.

Japan has always been at odds with China, from their history in Manchuria to the world war 2. The Chinese and the Japs have always been rivals like France and Great Britain. But unlike the countries in Europe these nations have not resolved their conflict. And maybe during our lifetime this conflict will be resolved. But what we don't know if it will end in peace or disaster.

So why care? Well frankly we should care. China is fast emerging to be a regional power and soon this might aggrevate the on going rivalry between Japan and China. This would impact the Philippines is many ways. From economics, to our society.

And if ever a hot war blows up, we might be thrust into the middle of it(unless we become benign as well always have been) Hell, China's army alone can swim to our country and kill us all. But then again China has always wanted to project itself as the middle kingdom in East asia while Japan think of themselves as the west in Asia. A member honorary member of the colonial powers of the old.

Whatever the outcome, still I believe the rising hostilities between these two dragons would shift our region from stability to who knows what..
